Nottingham needs no introduction to the outside world, famed as the home of the legendary Robin Hood.

Yet this city, known as the “Queen of the Midlands”, has more to offer than the medieval tale of the outlaw with honourable intentions and his band of merry men.

Modern Nottingham is a compelling mix of that medieval heritage and more modern development that has hardly slowed since the city hit an economic high point during the Industrial Revolution.

In the midst of that revolution this Midlands city built a considerable wealth based on lace-making, bicycle manufacture and tobacco and that corporate heritage continues to this day with many major British companies maintaining their head offices there.

It is also a city with a growing reputation as somewhere to visit, attracting in excess of 300,000 overseas tourists per year, they come to follow the Robin Hood legend and take in its central locations of Sherwood Forest and Nottingham Castle as well as two large events based on the story.

Tourists also come to take in the city’s more recent history, world-class dining, nightlife, shops and ancient pubs.
